Research Technician II
Job Purpose: Under the supervision of Dr. Michael Dzakovich (USDA-ARS/BCM), the research technician will assist with maintenance and organization of laboratory/greenhouse spaces and help execute experiments.
Job Duties:
Orders reagents, supplies, and equipment as needed.
Conducts laboratory and greenhouse research that includes, but not limited to, soil based or soilless (e.g. hydroponics) plant production, making nutrient solutions, harvesting plant tissues, extracting chemicals from plant tissues, and analysis of extracts using liquid chromatography.
Evaluates and refines methodologies for research projects.
Documents and summarizes experimental outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with growing and maintaining populations of plants in a greenhouse setting.
Experience or familiarity with extracting and analyzing plant-derived chemicals.
Experience with 3D printing and/or modeling.
Experience with experimental design and statistical data analysis.
Be comfortable using tools to build, maintain, or repair equipment.
